Excel Expert — General

This role suits a seasoned Excel generalist who wants to help AI models get better at spreadsheet work. You would build and review realistic Excel problems for the generative AI program of a large technology company. The work draws on experience across many industries and business functions rather than one specialty.

What you'll do

• Create spreadsheet tasks based on real situations from your career, each with a correct, clearly organized answer
• Review tasks and solutions and give written feedback on them
• Help research teams find where models struggle with Excel and how to close those gaps
• Work alongside fellow subject matter experts to keep training data consistent and accurate

What you'll need

• Expert command of Excel: XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, dynamic arrays, PivotTables, data modeling, dashboards, Power Query, Power Pivot and VBA macros
• A record of career growth, plus strong writing, communication, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
• Pluses: Excel use across several sectors, teaching or training experience, a PhD, or earlier AI training, annotation or model evaluation work (Rubrics training is a bonus)

Good to know

• Remote, hourly contract open only to US-based candidates; H1-B and STEM OPT holders can't be supported
• Pay is $70-$100 per hour, paid weekly through Stripe or Wise
• 40 hours a week of weekday availability is expected until September ends, then 20 hours a week after that
