RemoteContractOther Engineering

Key skills

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Computer Vision
  • Data Annotation

About the job

This contract role asks mechanical engineers to watch and label video footage of robots, machines and hand tools so that AI and robotics models learn from accurate data. It suits engineers with a few years of hands-on experience who like careful, detail-heavy review work, and prior AI experience isn't needed. The work supports a client project run through an AI training company.

What you'll do

  • Label parts, movements and actions in videos of robots and mechanical tasks
  • Note details such as motion, positioning and the order in which steps happen
  • Check existing labels and correct any that are wrong or vague
  • Flag tricky or ambiguous clips and explain your reasoning

What you'll need

  • At least 2 years in mechanical engineering, design, manufacturing, robotics or a similar field
  • Solid understanding of the way machines and their components move and work together
  • A sharp eye for small visual differences, plus clear written English
  • CAD experience (SolidWorks, NX, Creo or CATIA) and exposure to automation or industrial equipment count in your favour

Good to know

  • Independent contractor engagement, fully remote
  • Pay ranges from $50 to $90 per hour
  • Tasks are assigned by project and must be finished within set timelines
  • Earlier data labeling or computer vision work helps but isn't a requirement
