Cloud Engineer Expert

This contract role puts cloud engineering judgment to work on AI evaluation: you design infrastructure problems and then assess how AI models solve them. It is for an AI training company that produces evaluation data for advanced AI labs. It suits practitioners who can explain why an architecture choice is sound, not just make it.

What you'll do

• Build realistic cloud problems that span initial design all the way to handling outages
• Write model solutions that set out the logic for every design decision
• Review AI-generated answers for accuracy, security and cost
• Spot setups that look sound on paper but would break or run up costs once deployed

What you'll need

• Two or more years working as a cloud engineer on AWS, Azure or GCP
• Practical infrastructure-as-code work with Terraform, CloudFormation or a comparable tool
• Deep expertise in a specialty like networking, containers, serverless or cloud cost control
• Strong written English; certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, GCP Professional), Kubernetes or multi-cloud migration experience are a plus

Good to know

• Independent contract, fully remote and asynchronous, with no set schedule and no activity tracking
• Expect to commit 10 or more hours each week, with no upper limit
• Pay is $85 to $165 per hour depending on experience, paid out weekly
