About the job

Early-career software engineers can take on paid, remote coding work on a flexible, asynchronous basis. The role suits developers with one to three years of professional experience who are comfortable building and shipping features and fixes on their own. The work supports an early-stage, Y Combinator-backed startup.

What you'll do

  • Write and test production-quality code in a range of languages and stacks
  • Track down bugs and improve existing code for speed and maintainability
  • Review other engineers' code and act on the feedback you receive
  • Help shape specs, architecture choices and implementation plans asynchronously
  • Keep clear documentation for your code, APIs and technical decisions

What you'll need

  • Between one and three years working professionally as a software engineer
  • Deep familiarity with at least one modern language and its tooling
  • A firm grasp of system design, data structures and algorithms
  • A computer science or related degree, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • A plus: full-stack exposure, Git and CI/CD workflows, AWS, GCP or Azure, or open source contributions

Good to know

  • Contract, fully remote, starting as soon as possible
  • Pay is listed at $50–$100 per hour
  • Expect roughly 10–20 hours a week on projects you accept, with near-term work planned for the coming 2–3 weeks
