Software Developer

Contract software engineering work for developers with one to three years of professional experience who want flexible, remote hours. Tasks include writing new features, fixing bugs and reviewing code across different languages and applications for an early-stage, Y Combinator-backed startup. Accepted engineers join a skill pool that project teams draw from as work comes up.

What you'll do

• Build and ship tested code across several projects and tech stacks
• Track down bugs and refactor existing code for speed and maintainability
• Review other engineers' code and act on feedback about your own
• Work asynchronously on specs, architecture choices and documentation for code and APIs

What you'll need

• 1-3 years of full-time (or equivalent) software engineering experience
• Strong skills in one or more current programming languages and their tooling
• A solid grasp of system design, algorithms and data structures, and the ability to deliver features on your own
• A degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
• A plus: full-stack work, Git and CI/CD, cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP or Azure, or open-source contributions

Good to know

• Contract, remote and asynchronous; start as soon as possible
• Listed at 10 hours per week, with 10-20 hours expected on projects you take on
• Initial work is expected over the next two to three weeks, assigned project by project
• Pay is listed at $75 per hour
