Transportation Assistant

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic DIB & MRTFB in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located at Letterkenny Army Depot, Dir of Supply & Transportation, performing freight shipment and transportation support functions. Arranging for the most economical shipment of freight and processes associated documents associated with the movement of materials.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience at the GS-06 grade level which includes applying established transportation regulations, standing route orders, tariffs, or track domestic and/or Foreign Military Sales (FMS) cargo via multi-modal transportation; verifying hazardous material shipments for regulatory compliance, including reviewing packaging, marking, labeling, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), or preparing dangerous goods documentation and performing post-audits or verification of transportation billing/charges; comparing shipping rates to determine cost-effective carriers.
