Engineering Technician (Civil)

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This Engineering Technician (Civil) position is with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Southwestern Division, Galveston District, Engineering and Construction Division, Construction Branch, Northern Area Office, Houston Resident Office located in Houston, TX.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Specialized Experience for GS-11: Internal to Federal Government: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Processing complex topographic and hydrographic surveys AND 2) Analyzing GPS surveys to verify vertical and horizontal control; AND 3) Evaluating survey data for project specifications and tabulations of quantities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). External to Federal Government: 1) Processing survey data using electronic systems; AND 2) Utilizing equipment capabilities for topographic and hydrographic surveys; AND 3) Evaluating survey data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
