SQL & Analytics Engineer Expert

This contract role involves designing SQL and data modeling problems that are used to test AI models, then reviewing how well those models handle them. It suits analytics engineers who write production-grade SQL and can explain their modeling choices in writing. The work is for an AI training data company that supplies evaluation data to frontier AI labs.

What you'll do

• Build analytics scenarios that start from raw tables and end in tested data models
• Produce reference solutions, with a written explanation of each query and modeling choice
• Review AI-generated SQL for correctness and warehouse cost
• Catch queries that look right on the surface but give incorrect or costly results

What you'll need

• Two or more years in analytics engineering or SQL-focused analytics roles
• Deep SQL skill, including joins, window functions, CTEs and query tuning
• Hands-on work in a cloud warehouse like BigQuery, Snowflake or Redshift
• Strong written English; experience with dbt, dimensional or semantic modeling, or Airflow/Dagster is a plus

Good to know

• Independent contractor engagement, fully remote and asynchronous, with no fixed schedule and no activity monitoring
• A minimum commitment of 10 hours a week, adjustable from one week to the next
• Pay ranges from $60 to $100 an hour based on experience, paid out weekly through Stripe
