Life Sciences Subject Matter Expert - Biology

This contract role asks life sciences researchers to write difficult, evidence-based problems that test how well AI models reason about biology. It suits PhD-level scientists and postdocs who like interpreting experimental data and writing with precision. The work is for an AI company that supplies research data to frontier AI labs, and it involves no coding.

What you'll do

• Create original graduate-level biology problems set in realistic lab or research scenarios
• Write model answers backed by sound, well-argued scientific reasoning
• Work with datasets, figures, sequences and structures, checking calculations and conclusions along the way
• Flag vague or underspecified questions and revise tasks in response to reviewer comments

What you'll need

• A PhD, postdoctoral experience or a comparable research background in the life sciences
• Specialist knowledge of one or more fields, such as genetics, microbiology, neuroscience, immunology or biophysics
• Clear scientific writing and a careful eye for detail
• A plus: experience writing assessments, reviewing manuscripts, evaluating AI outputs or publishing peer-reviewed work

Good to know
