Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Node.js, TypeScript, Rust)

This is a full-time placement for a senior backend engineer who writes production code in Node.js, TypeScript and Rust. You would work on a platform team whose services support web and mobile products used by millions. It suits engineers who have worked at large consumer-facing companies and are ready to own features from start to finish. The team belongs to a large enterprise technology company and is adding generative AI features to its live services.

What you'll do

• Take defined features from plan to release with other engineers, in line with platform goals
• Write, test and maintain Node.js, TypeScript and Rust services through a CI/CD pipeline
• Build REST and GraphQL APIs and service-to-service integrations that carry heavy traffic
• Add AI/ML features to products, review code, track performance and mentor teammates

What you'll need

• 5+ years in software engineering, or a Computer Science (or related) degree plus 3+ years, at a high-scale organization
• Backend production experience with Node.js and TypeScript, plus real-world Rust work
• Solid knowledge of HTTP, cookies, headers, caching and sessions, and of auth, timeouts and retries between services
• Clear written and spoken communication. GraphQL federation and accessibility knowledge are a plus
