Open Source GitHub Maintainer

This contract role pays experienced open source maintainers to judge code changes that a large language model has written for the repositories they already look after. It suits senior engineers with a public track record on GitHub or GitLab, and no background in AI is needed. The work is for an AI training company whose client is building its next generation of models.

What you'll do

• Assess LLM-written patches against the codebase you maintain
• Back up each verdict with clear written reasoning
• Check the assessments that other experts on the project submit

What you'll need

• Senior-level software engineering skills
• A visible history of open source contributions on GitHub or GitLab
• Working knowledge of languages such as Python, C, C++, Java, TypeScript, Rust or Go
• Prior experience as a maintainer or reviewing contributor code is a plus

Good to know

• Contract work of about 15 hours a week, open to applicants anywhere
• You choose your own hours and days, as long as you stay consistently active
• Pay is per task that meets the project's standards; no rate is given, and you must submit a minimum number of tasks each week
• Screening involves questions, a short AI interview of about 10 minutes and a hiring manager review
• Selected experts are expected to start tasks within a day or two of onboarding
