Data Scientist

This contract role asks experienced data scientists to write and solve analytical problems that are used to test and improve AI models. It suits people who build models and run statistical analysis as part of their daily work, rather than ML engineers, data engineers or analysts whose work is mostly reporting. The work is for an AI data company that produces expert evaluation sets for frontier AI labs.

What you'll do

• Create realistic analysis problems based on the work you handle on the job, such as A/B experiments, metric design, segmentation, forecasting and predictive modeling
• Solve each problem fully, documenting the reasoning behind every step to produce a reference answer
• Spot subtle analytical errors that seem plausible but that an experienced practitioner would catch

What you'll need

• A master's degree or PhD in a quantitative discipline such as statistics, economics, mathematics or computer science
• At least three years of full-time data science work, not counting internships or academic study
• Solid SQL along with Python or R
• Practical statistics experience in areas like regression, causal inference, predictive modeling or A/B testing
• Helpful extras: a background on growth, product or marketplace teams, experience designing and presenting experiments, and clear written English

• Contract engagement, fully remote and asynchronous
• No fixed schedule; you choose your hours and can adjust your workload each week, with a minimum of 10 hours per week
