This position is located at Shiprock Service Unit (SRSU), Northern Navajo Medical Center, Division of Community Health, Shiprock, NM. The incumbent assists the Supervisory Physician of the Health Education Center for Wellness by providing a variety of tasks involving direct patient care and education to individuals, families and communities within the Service Unit. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE GS-05 GRADE LEVEL: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service that equipped me with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples of specialized experience include assisting healthcare staff with basic patient care activities; obtaining and documenting patient information; assisting with health screenings, appointments, and follow-up activities; providing basic health education to patients or families; maintaining patient or program records and entering health-related data; assisting with community health or disease-prevention activities; and maintaining patient care equipment, supplies, or inventory. OR Education: Completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree, with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position. OR Combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for this GS-05 grade level. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE GS-06 GRADE LEVEL: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service that equipped me with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples of specialized experience include assisting with patient care and home visits for individuals with HIV; educating patients on HIV medications, disease monitoring, prevention, and health promotion; monitoring medication compliance and assisting with patient follow-up; conducting or assisting with health screenings; documenting patient encounters and maintaining health-related data; coordinating with healthcare providers and community resources; assisting with HIV awareness, outreach, and community screening activities; and supporting quality assurance activities, including data collection, equipment checks, and supply management. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE GS-07 GRADE LEVEL: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service that equipped me with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples of specialized experience include providing patient care to individuals with HIV; conducting home visits and health screenings; educating patients and families on HIV medications, disease monitoring, prevention, and health promotion; monitoring medication compliance and assisting patients with navigating healthcare services; coordinating patient care with healthcare providers and community resources; documenting patient encounters and maintaining health-related data; assisting with HIV/public health outreach, screening, and program activities; and performing quality assurance activities related to patient care services, equipment, supplies, and program data. OR Education: Completion of one full year of graduate education meets the requirements for GS-7, with major study or at least 18 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position. OR Combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for this GS-05 grade level. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
