Qualifications
In order to qualify, Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the 1702 Series, General Education and Training series.you must meet the basic requirement and specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NJ-01, equivalent to the next to lower grade GS-04 or equivalent in the Federal Service. Specialized experience must include :1) Providing a working knowledge of Child Development regulations, procedures, and processes. 2) Using knowledge of early child development theory, methodology, and practices relating to physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development. 3) Applying knowledge of Child Development Center regulations, programs, and operations. 4) Developing creative and innovative activity and special program plans. 5) Promoting and fostering effective working relationships with others and to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. 6) Ensuring the safety and hygiene of children through constant supervision, effective arrangement of space and proper management of equipment. OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit copies of your transcripts KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of comprehensive child development requirements, policies, procedures and processes. Knowledge of appropriate early childhood guidance practices, techniques and programs. Knowledge of physical, intellectual, social, emotional and nutritional stages of development of young children in applying basic child development principles, concepts, practices to perform CDC operation assignments. Skill in communicating factual and procedural information clearly, orally and in writing. Ability to adapt planned activities for children's individual skills. Ability to ensure the safety and hygiene of children through constant supervision, effective arrangement of space and proper management of equipment. Ability to analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions. Ability and skill to lead subordinate employees and foster effective working relationship with others. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
